Top Toppings for Pancake Day!
Sweet or savoury, sticky or smooth, what kind of pancake topper are you?
Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day as we all know it, is just around the corner. It’s the one day of the year where we feel obliged to get whisking, frying and flipping our doughy friends, stacking them high on our plates for the whole family to enjoy. To get you in the mood, we have provided a little inspiration in the form of our favourite toppings from all of us here at the Brudenell in Aldeburgh. Sweet or savoury, sticky or smooth, what kind of pancake topper are you? Get in touch with your favourite toppings on Facebook and Twitter for us to share them with the world!
Lemon Juice and Sugar
Celebrate the pancake in its brilliantly simple form with a splash of fresh lemon juice and sprinkling of sugar for added sweetness and texture.
Chocolate and Banana
An all-time classic that’s a hit with the whole family. Cover finely sliced banana with melted chocolate, or spread your pancake with Nutella. For an extra special touch, scatter a few crushed peanuts.
American Style with Blueberries and Strawberries
Thicken your pancakes with a little baking powder and self-raising flour for perfect American style. Top with fresh blueberries and strawberries, and finish with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
Bacon and Scrambled Egg
The perfect savoury treat for pancake lovers. Add a little mashed potato to your mix for a more savoury flavour and added thickness. Serve with scrambled egg and crispy streaky bacon.
Pear and Apple with Maple Syrup
Simmer slices of pear and apple in around 50ml of water with sugar to taste for around 15 minutes. Pour the compote over your pancakes and finish with a lashing a maple syrup and dusting of cinnamon.
