National Walking Month

May 13, 2018

May is National Walking Month which means it’s a great excuse to put your comfy trainers on, head out into the great outdoors and get exploring. Here on the Suffolk Coast, we are perfectly placed for a range of walking routes of all distances.

To celebrate National Walking Month, we have highlighted our 'must-do' walking route when visiting The Brudenell.

Aldeburgh to Thorpeness

If you’re looking for stunning sea views and scenic countryside, then this is the perfect walk. This 5-mile circular route takes around 2 hours, giving you the option to make it a peaceful wander or a quick stroll. Take in the fresh, crisp air and calming sound of the waves crashing onto the pebbles as you explore this beautiful coast in all its glory.

Starting at the main car park in Aldeburgh, simply walk down to the beach and from then just follow the coast until you reach Thorpeness. Make sure not to miss the Scallop Sculpture dedicated to the famous Suffolk composter Benjamin Britten along the seafront, the iconic House in the Clouds in Thorpeness and the Martello Tower back in Aldeburgh.

If you feel like extending your walk, why not venture into the North Warren Nature Reserve in Thorpeness. A haven for wildlife and one of the few regular wintering sites for tundra bean geese in the UK. There are stunning views in all directions so for anyone who’s interested in photography, this walk is an absolute dream so don't forget to pack your camera!
